Perm Speech Language Pathologist (SLP): Hospital

JOB SUMMARY
Provide assessment, treatment, consultation and training to children with hearing loss and their families, and provide consultation and education to other professionals and non-professionals. Applies the knowledge and skill
necessary to provide appropriate interactions with staff, patients and families of all ages.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university.
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology or completion of graduate coursework and clinical practice required for ASHA status as Clinical Fellow.
Experience in pediatric diagnostic or treatment settings.

REQUIRED CREDENTIALS
American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC).
Washington State license in Audiology or Speech Language Pathology.
For CFY applicants; Washington State Department of Health Interim Permit to train as a speech-language pathologist with successful completion of CCC requirements within 12 months of start date.

PREFERRED
Knowledge of Sign Language.
Experience working with 0 to 10 year old children with hearing loss.

Skill in the assessment and treatment of children with hearing loss.
Understanding of the impact of communication disorders on psychosocial development and academic performance.
Evidence of personal and professional growth through Continuing Education.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
Light work involves walking/standing to a significant degree, or sitting most of the time while performing push/pull of arm or foot controls.
Exerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally or 10 lbs. frequently for lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling.

JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential Functions
Provide aural rehabilitation for deaf/HOH children with cochlear implants or hearing aids:

? Establish goals
? Conduct treatment
? Provide education/training for caregiver(s)
? Maintain documentation

Provide assessment of children with hearing loss:
? Review history information
? Interview primary caregiver
? Perform assessment
? Provide feedback to caregiver, referral source(s)
? Prepare and distribute report

Provide education and training to caregivers regarding their child's hearing loss and auditory development.
Provide consultation services to professional and non-professional persons at Seattle Childrens, particularly the Cochlear Implant Team and in the community.
Provide in-service training for schools and private therapists working with children with cochlear implants.
