Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Provide assessment, treatment, consultation and training to children with hearing loss and their families, and provide consultation and education to other professionals and non-professionals. Applies the knowledge and skill
necessary to provide appropriate interactions with staff, patients and families of all ages.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience
Masters, Au.D. or Ph.D. in Audiology from an accredited university training program.

Required Credentials
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing
Association (ASHA).
WA State License in Audiology.

PREFERRED
Pediatric hospital experience.
Expertise in Cochlear Implants, Hearing aids and FM systems.
Knowledge of Sign Language.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Skill in the assessment and treatment of children with hearing loss.
Understanding of the impact of hearing loss on psychosocial development and academic performance.
Team work.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Evidence of continuing education.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
Light work involves walking/standing to a significant degree, or sitting most of the time while performing push/pull of arm or foot controls.
Exerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally or 10 lbs. frequently for lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions
Provide assessment of children with known or suspected hearing loss. This may include air and bone conduction audiometry with appropriate masking, speech audiometry, site of lesion testing, auditory evoked response testing, evoked otoacoustic emission testing, immittance test battery, visual reinforcement audiometry, and central auditory processing evaluations.

Provide cochlear implants, hearing aids and/or FM systems for children with hearing loss.

Select and fit appropriate hearing aids and/or FM systems.

Provide education and training to caregivers regarding their child's hearing loss.

Provide consultation services to professional and non-professional persons at Seattle Children's and in the community.

Implement clinical-research protocols at the request of the Audiology leadership.

Develop and provide training for community audiologists. Develop course materials and training modules.

Supervise undergraduate and graduate students in Audiology. Provide leadership to and teaching of Audiology students in professional area.

Assist in implementation of UNHS linked to appropriate diagnostic follow-up.

Participate in team activities, Complete and submit DOH screening cards and diagnostic follow-up forms per DOH protocol.

Carry out department functions. Submit billing, maintain productivity, and attend and participate in staff meetings and team meetings.
