Job Description
Servicing Nursing Home patients
7-3 or 9--5 Monday - Friday, rotate Saturday
Will take 3 yrs min exp.
SALARY : 70k year
Role: Medical Laboratory Technologist II
Responsibilities:
- Performs specimen processing and rejection is accordance with laboratory SOPs, manufacturer guidelines and good clinical laboratory practices.
- Enters accurate patient demographic information and laboratory test orders into the laboratory information system, while ascertaining the adequacy of patient information as well as sample integrity.
- Tracks inventory of supplies and reagents in laboratory and reports to Technical Supervisor.
- Assists in ordering of supplies.
- Receives packages/shipments and store based on storage requirements.
- Handles phone enquiries for results and communicates results both verbally and electronically.
- Performs waived and moderately complex clinical laboratory tests independently.
- Performs highly complex clinical laboratory tests with result review of a Medical Lab Scientist and Technical Supervisor.
- Reviews and verifies quality control data prior to result release.
- Applies principles, theories, and techniques to produce accurate test results.
- Reports out results to ordering provider in a timely manner in order to ensure that established turn-around times are met.
- Maintains instruments following procedural calibrations, quality control, and daily maintenance and troubleshooting when necessary.
- Assists in training new employees/interns.
- Assists Phlebotomy Lead in maintaining inventory, providing supplies, assist with phlebotomy duties, general support, as needed.
- Assists Client Support Specialist in ensuring client needs are met regarding supplies and inquiries.
- Assists with send-out testing and result recording/reporting.
- Assist Technical Supervisor as needed in performing laboratory related duties.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Associate degree in a laboratory science with certification (or eligible new graduate) from an accredited institution as a Medical Laboratory Technician OR;
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution with a major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science.
- Minimum 5 year's clinical lab experience in a moderately complex laboratory. ( will take 3 yrs exp for this role )
- Familiarity with medical terminology and laboratory information systems preferred.
- Medical Laboratory Technician MLT(ASCP), MLT(AMT), or MT(AMT) required.
